Description

Our client, known for its exceptional client service and professional rigor, is seeking an accomplished Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join their executive team. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic leader with a strong background in banking, finance, legal or C Suite level experience in a variety of professional services to make a significant impact in a thriving legal environment.  The candidate will ideally have a CPA designation.

Position Summary:

As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will play a crucial role in shaping the firm’s operational strategy and ensuring that daily operations are executed with excellence. You will collaborate closely with the Managing Partner/CEO to drive growth, enhance financial performance, and lead operational initiatives. This position demands a strategic leader with expertise in financial management and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Partner with the Managing Partner/CEO to formulate and implement the firm’s strategic vision.
    • Drive operational efficiency and effectiveness through strategic planning and execution.
    • Guide senior management and staff towards achieving operational and financial goals.
  2. Financial Management:
    • Oversee the firm’s financial health, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
    • Develop and enforce financial controls and procedures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
    • Analyze financial performance to provide actionable insights for improvement.
  3. Operational Oversight:
    • Manage all operational aspects of the firm, including HR, IT, facilities, and administration.
    • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  4. Business Development:
    • Support the firm’s growth initiatives and enhance client relationships to expand market presence.
    • Develop and enforce operational policies that align with the firm’s strategic objectives.
  5. Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks.
    • Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory issues affecting the firm.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in senior management roles within banking, finance, or related industries, with a minimum of 5 years in executive leadership in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proven success in financial management, strategic planning, and operational leadership.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
    • Comprehensive understanding of financial principles, banking operations, and regulatory requirements.
    • Familiarity with legal industry operations is a plus.
